Time for a career change? Or, are you a licensed cosmetologist who wants to enhance your skills? Enroll in this course that specializes in the science of skin and complexion care. At the successful completion of the 600-hour program you will be prepared to take the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology Examination for Aestheticians. Mon-Fri Time: 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm Students completing this program will develop the technical skills associated with cosmetologists, nail technicians, hair stylists, makeup artists and aetheticians. The program also includes instruction in hygiene, equipment sanitizing, customer relations and salon management. A total of 1600 hours of instruction are required to take the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology Examination. This evening class has open enrollment and meets five days a week. Mon-Fri Time: 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm Students completing this 720-hour program will acquire the technical and procedural skills associated with massage therapists. The program covers the sciences and various massage disciplines such as Swedish, Seated, Sports, Reflexology and Spa treatments. Mon-Fri Time: 4:30 pm - 9:00 pm Continuing education credits are now offered at EVIT. Specific topics include introduction to root words, human body structure, respiratory system, urinary system, reproductive system, obstetrics and neonatology, cardiovascular system, digestive system, special organs, musculosketal system, nervous system and endocrine system. This class is a prerequisite for Medical Coding and Billing, Medical Transcription, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant and Practical Nursing. Mondays Time: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm This ten week course is for the student committed to a career in direct patient care. Learning is accomplished in the classroom, lab and clinical settings. Students are prepared to take the Arizona Board of Nursing Certified Nurse Assistant Examination. This class meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The clinical porton of this class will include eight hours of clinicals on Saturdays. Tues, Wed, & Thurs Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Surgical technologists perform any combination of the following tasks either before, during or after an operation: Prepare patient by washing, shaving, etc.; place equipment and supplies in operating room according to surgeon's instruction; arrange instruments under direction of nurse; maintain specified supply of fluids for use during operation; adjust lights and equipment as directed; hand instruments and supplies to surgeon; hold retractors, and cut sutures as directed; count sponges, needles, and instruments used during operation; and clean operating room. Mon-Fri Time: 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm Students who complete the practical nursing program will be eligible to take the state board exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Students learn the manipulative skills involved in auto body repair and refinishing. Students will develop an understanding of the underlying theories, technical information and related occupation information to ensure sound judgment and usage of proper procedures involved in the repair and service of the automotive body and chasis. Student will perform detailing and assist in painting. Instruction focuses on mastery of the Automotive Service Excellence task list, which is designed to meet ASE and International Center for Automotive Research (I-CAR) standards. (Note: This course is 350 hours.) Mon, Tues, & Thurs Time: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm This introductory class gives the student an opportunity to learn a new skill that can lead to a new career or simply help them on a personal basis. Students will get a hands-on feel for what welding is all about. Mon & Wed Time: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm Students are provided training in electrical maintenance, residental, commerical and industrial wiring, appliance repair, installation of light and power equipment and repair of electronic controls and circuits. Air conditioning students learn the skills required to install, service and repair air conditioning, refrigerations and heating equipment.
